Opening Words

As a travel blogger who has traversed China far and wide, I deeply understand the ups and downs of traveling with children. Though I can now confidently discuss various travel strategies, I too was overwhelmed when I first started traveling with kids. After years of experience, I've finally compiled a set of practical tips to share with everyone about how to plan an enjoyable family trip based on your child's age.

Infant and Toddler Section

To be honest, traveling with babies from 6 weeks to 5 years old is truly a hardcore challenge. I remember my first trip to Sanya with my sister's one-month-old daughter - the preparation checklist was like writing a thesis, spanning three full pages. After numerous experiences, I can now confidently say that certain aspects are particularly crucial.

First, health preparation is absolutely non-negotiable. I recommend getting your baby a medical check-up before departure - this isn't being overly cautious, it's a necessary investment for peace of mind. I've encountered several parents whose children suddenly developed fever or allergies during trips because they skipped the check-up, causing everyone great anxiety. So spending time on a medical check-up really helps ensure a more relaxed family journey.

Packing requires careful consideration. Beyond basics like sunscreen and insect repellent, many new parents often overlook hotel room safety for babies. Items like socket covers and corner guards might seem trivial, but they make unfamiliar environments safer. Baby strollers are another science altogether. I strongly recommend choosing lightweight strollers under 5kg, preferably ones that fold instantly. A lightweight stroller really saves hassle when rushing through airports or exploring attractions.

Formula and diaper preparation requires careful calculation. I suggest bringing 30% extra as backup - it's better to be safe than sorry when away from home. Formula should be distributed across different luggage pieces in case one gets lost or delayed.
